Kayaking the Mangroves

The lagoon is at its best in the first hour after dawn — flat water, cool air, and a soundscape that belongs to the birds. Kayaks leave the resort jetty and weave into the mangrove channels that fringe the Upparu lagoon. Herons stand motionless in the shallows, kingfishers dart between branches, and occasionally a monitor lizard slips off a root into the water beside you. No motor, no noise, no schedule — just you and the paddle.
