Wilpattu is Sri Lanka's largest national park and one of its least-visited — its dry-zone forests and natural lakes (villu) shelter leopards, sloth bears, elephants, spotted deer, and hundreds of bird species. Lake 10 is less than 10 minutes from the park gate. Your full-day safari runs from early morning through the heat of the day, with a picnic lunch packed from the resort. On the way back, a stop at the river for a swim is the best way to end it.
