After dark, the forest edge around Eluwankulama belongs to a different cast of characters. The slender loris — one of Sri Lanka's rarest nocturnal primates — moves through the branches with deliberate calm. Below it, fishing cats prowl the lagoon margins, pausing to scan the shallows. This two-to-three hour walk follows game trails with your guide, spotlight in hand, stopping wherever something stirs. It is a slow experience — patience rewards you.
